Store bought protein bars are easy to grab on the go, but sometimes the cost of those bars can add up as well as the calories.; however, this raw chocolate protein bar recipe can solve this problem for you.  Many of the protein bars on the market that claim to be “healthy” are actually loaded with chemicals, artificial sweeteners, and unwanted calories that could have a negative effect on your weight loss goals.  If you have time to whip up your own chocolate protein bars it is definitely worth it to know what you are eating.  These chocolate protein bars taste amazing, are super easy to make, and will be the perfect pre or post workout snack.  They are also great to have when you need to kick that mid-afternoon chocolate craving!

A simple way to avoid store bought protein bars loaded with unnecessary chemicals. These bars are great for a pre or post workout snack or breakfast on the go. Make a batch and store a few in the freezer to enjoy at a later date.

Ingredients
  1. 1 Cup Almonds (or other nut of your choice)
  2. 1/2 Cup Of Chocolate Protein Powder
  3. 2 T Cacao Powder (dark chocolate powder)
  4. 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
  5. 1-1 1/2 Cup Pitted Dates
  6. 1/4 Cup Cacao Nibs or Dark Chocolate Chips (optional)
Instructions
  1. 1. In a food processor, grind the almonds to a fine powder. Add in cacao powder, protein powder, and sea salt until well mixed.
  2. 2. Add the pitted dates, a few at a time into the food processor and blend until the batter starts to clump. Your mixture should have a thick sticky consistency when it's ready. If it seems dry, add a little bit of water.
  3. 3. Pour the mixture into a 9 x 9 ungreased baking dish and flatten it down to spread evenly.
  4. 4. Sprinkle cocoa nibs on top if you wish and press down with a spatula.
  5. 5. Cover and place in fridge for an hour and they are good to go!
