Whoa – This is Really Happening
Second Trimester Is In Full Swing!
“I’m Showing So Much Now! Check Out This Belly!”
Finally we were able to let the secret out!!! I was so excited that I could finally feel comfortable sharing our special little secret with the world (especially my clients, again so they didn’t think their trainer was just gaining weight! Lol). I thought I was being very sly in hiding it; however, many clients told me that they suspected it already.
I was shocked!! Apparently I’m not as sly as I thought I was…….
What how did you know??
Here is what some said:
“You looked very pale during some of our sessions”
“Your energy level seemed very low while teaching class”
“I’ve been training with your for two years and we have never done the same thing twice, but the other day we did”
Those are just a few comments……Well I was just happy that none of them said “It looked like you had packed on a few pounds” hahaha….They probably just didn’t want to say it to my face.
So I guess you can only try so hard to hide what’s going on with your body, but apparently the exhaustion and feeling of wanting to hurl (never actually hurled though! Points for me!) was written all over my face! Now when I say written all over my face, I mean this when it came to food also. I can’t say that I had a lot of cravings around this time, but my sweet tooth did make quite the appearance. I was able to control it for the most part, but check out how I was busted eyeing up my husband’s birthday cake…..LOL
The Secret Is Out – Now Bring On The Haters!
I use the term “haters” lightly, but this is just how I felt the reactions to my workouts were. I regularly post workout videos on my Instagram page (If you aren’t already following @corecondition #shamelessplug) in order to motivate people and share different workout ideas. Once people knew I was pregnant, many of the videos I posted of “toned down” workouts were being commented on negatively and many were asking me if what I was doing was safe. I tried not to let it get to me, but to be honest it did. When people are constantly accusing you of trying to harm you baby, it can start to bother you. Regardless I didn’t stop what I was doing. I know my body best, I have a University degree in this, and my midwife said there was nothing wrong with what I was doing. I just had to keep telling myself that and ignore the negative comments.
I knew my little guy was safe in there and I knew that the only way to continue feeling good and “like myself” is to continue my workouts including both strength training and cardiovascular. If any pregnant ladies are reading this, do not start a fitness routine once you get pregnant. If you were already working out prior to pregnancy it is PERFECTLY SAFE to keep it up, as long as you listen to your body and stop if something doesn’t feel right.
Here is a glimpse of how I stayed active during my second trimester

Not crazy at all right?? Well at least not for me!
There were a few mornings I woke up early and decided to take my little bean on hikes to Quarry Rock in North Vancouver. There is something about an early morning hike in beautiful BC and just sitting in amazing views to ponder life. I enjoyed my time sitting at the top of Quarry Rock with just a few other early risers, headphones in, and thinking about the amazing journey I am on and how in just a few months I’m going to have a little bean of my own to carry up this hike! Built in weight vest! I’m sure these are not the thoughts that go through other peoples heads when they think about having a baby, but I’m just different lol……
Week 19 – We’re Having a Boy!!!!
May 14, 2017 – This will go down as one of the best days of my life. The day we found out our little bean is a BOY! We had our dating ultrasound and found out our little man is growing perfectly in there and just as he should be. I felt so much more connected to our little guy, now that I knew he was a little GUY!
Beans First Plane Ride and The Toothache From Hell
Bring on week 20, I was feeling great and excited to fly to Vermont with my husband to spend a week of relaxation and watch his walk across the stage as a Juris Doctor Law School Graduate. That’s right my baby is a Doctor (kinda…lol). I could not be more proud of him and the fact that I had his little son growing inside me made the celebration that much better. Flying pregnant was fine, I just had to make sure I had the isle seat so I could get up to pee 90 times on the flight! #Thestugglewasreal.
Until we got there and I got the worst toothache I’ve ever had in my life! This is one of those things they don’t tell you about pregnancy (like bleeding gums, constant sinus congestion, and so much more! Lol) and being in Vermont (aka the USA) I wasn’t going to go to a dentist there, my dentist from home actually told me not too. Long story short, it sucked, I sucked it up, used lot’s of Orajel, and it went away the day before I flew home and was completely gone when I went to see my dentist the first day home (so typical….).
I figure if this is the worst of it, I’m still pretty luck and it’s really not that bad (Just trying to stay postitive lol).
I Even Kept Up With My Workouts While On Vacation #NOEXCUSES
20 Weeks Pregnant – Hotel Gym Workout
Well I must say, my second trimester was an amazing experience and I can’t complain about it one bit. I was still able to work my full time hours, train my clients, eat healthy (80% of the time – just like pre-pregnancy), and feel overall pretty good!
Let’s see what the third trimester has to offer……….
I’m in shock I still have muscle definition!!!
